The History
Sir Barry Jackson founded the Birmingham Repertory Theatre Company in 1913 and it is now the UK’s longest continuously producing, building-based theatre company.
During his directorship of the original Station Street playhouse which he built and financed himself, the company achieved a national and international reputation.
In 1935 Sir Barry founded a trust to run the theatre effectively donating it to the city of Birmingham.
Following his death in 1961 the Sir Barry Jackson Trust became a theatre charity.
